Capt Jose Machuca was DJ's Flight Commander for most of his time in Korea. He was a really good guy and he cared a lot. So, just before his going away he was sitting off by himself writing down everything so he wouldn't forget anything he wanted to say.
Capt Machuca's plaque
×Capt Machuca's plaque
DJ had this going away plaque made for Capt Machuca. The inscription at the bottom reads "Break in case of emergency" and the contents include a bottle of soju, Korean swords, and a legacy DOM patch hidden behind one of the tassels. The inscription on the inside says some nice things about Capt Machuca, then also includes the DOM battle cry in Korean at the bottom (Trample the weak, hurdle the dead), but DJ had "I love rainbow ponies" added at the end in Korean. Capt Machuca doesn't speak Korean, so it might be a while before he figures this out!
